Bright yellow limonite occurs as possible cave fill replacements in the mine.  
 
  Unusual cave minerals are present as speleothems in the caves. Here yellow flowstone and soda straws grow from ledges containing pack rat middens.

Fred Luiszer of the University of Colorado has analyzed the formationa and determined that the unusual coloration is due to the presence of large amounts of urea with the calcite.
 
With the re-opening of the original mine tunnel entrances, exploration is on-going. There's more to be found !
